ArcGIS Desktop Advanced

Course Overview

ArcGIS Advanced builds on the material covered on the Introduction-level courses, and explores some of the more advanced capabilities of ArcGIS Desktop.
ArcGIS Advanced Day 1 leans more towards topics concerning data analysis and presentation. The course explains the benefits of the Geodatabase format, explores the more advanced functions relating to everyday operations such as Labelling, Symbology Editing and Layouts, and introduces the software's Reporting function.
ArcGIS Advanced Day 2 leans more towards topics concerning data editing and data processing. The course explains the more advanced data capture functions & keyboard shortcuts, and shows how to use the Field Calculator for smart attribute editing. It will also demonstrate the use of the ArcToolbox menus for geoprocessing, and introduce the concept of Modelbuilder for the automation of repetitive workflows.
The course is suitable for ArcGIS users with previous experience (at least 6 months would be recommended), or those who have recently attended an Introduction-level course.

Course Prerequisites

• • Delegates must have some experience with ArcGIS Desktop, or have attended an ArcGIS Introduction courses. Familiarity with the basic operation of ArcMap and ArcCatalog, and an understanding of the use of Layers and Layer Properties; Data Frames; Map Documents; Selections; Basic Editing; Attribute Joins, is assumed.

  • The course is based on the ArcGIS Desktop Basic licence
